A proposed plan to allow Diane Abbott to become a Labour MP again before standing down at the election has collapsed amid confusion over her future
brought the party into disrepute
that Ms Abbott she would be blocked, the plan failed and left the leadership scrambling for a solution. He claimed the intervention was a “false allegation” which was “designed to disrupt this election”. A party spokesman said: “The Labour party takes all complaints extremely seriously and they are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures.”
