Children aged two and five are among the six people that were shot and killed in Entshele, Ezakheni in KwaZulu-Natal.

KwaZulu-Natal police have activated the 72-hour mobilisation of maximum resources in search of an unknown number of suspects who allegedly shot and killed six women and injured four others in the Entshele area in Ezakheni.South African Police Service spokesperson in KwaZulu-Natal, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said information at their disposal indicates that twelve people were travelling in a bakkie on Helpmekaar Road when another vehicle approached, and its occupants opened fire at the bakkie.

“The motive of the killing has not yet been established, and police are appealing to anyone who might have information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number 08600 10111,” he said.In another recent incident, six alleged suspects were shot dead in two separate incidents.

Naicker said a team of police officers from various units, including the Hawks, gathered intelligence regarding the suspects’ whereabouts. “When police announced their arrival at the identified house, they were greeted with a hail of bullets from the suspects. “The police officers returned fire, and during the shootout, four suspects sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Three firearms were found in the possession of the suspects,” Naicker explained.
