Kyle Shanahan feels for running back Elijah Mitchell, who will miss two months with a knee injury sustained in the Week 1 loss to the Bears, but remains confident in backup options such as Jeff Wilson Jr.
"I was sad for him. He's going to bounce back, it could have been worse. We're lucky it wasn't an ACL or anything, but real tough to lose him, everyone knows how good he was last year and I believe he was going to be even better this year, but we gotta make sure when he comes back we've got a reason for him to come back and play good for us.", the 49ers will turn to veteran running back Jeff Wilson Jr. as the primary ball carrier in his absence.
"Jeff will do everything, fullback, halfback, running the ball, catching the ball. But we've got two young guys behind him that we need their help. I was hoping to give them a little more time to get their feet wet, but losing Elijah, these guys gotta step it up and come in and help Jeff out."
