At a time when the Yankees have been starving for offense, Kyle Higashioka has been one of their more productive hitters, earning him more playing time in the process.
Higashioka started a third straight game behind the plate on Saturday, catching Clarke Schmidt for the first time since May 31.
“Higgy’s been swinging the bat pretty well for an extended period now,” Boone said. “They both are so good behind the plate. But I do like the way Higgy’s been swinging the bat. He’s been one of those guys that I feel like has hit a lot of balls hard for outs.Kyla Higashioka is not worried about the Yankees’ playoff potential.Trevino, meanwhile, entered Saturday hitting .211 with a .570 OPS on the season.
The Yankees expect Frankie Montas to join them in Anaheim during their next series, against the Angels.
