'I had to rectify things...' Ever-present defender Zitha Kwinika has reflected on scoring his first-ever goal for Kaizer Chiefs. Full story ➡️
Kwinika, a graduate from Kaizer Chiefs development ranks, returned to the club at the start of the season following spells with Chippa United, Thanda Royal Zulu, Bidvest Wits and Stellenbosch FC, and on the back of a campaign in which he was named as Stellies' Player of the Season.
The 28-year-old has since played every available minute for Chiefs this season, having started and featured throughout in all eight matches thus far, and was hand on to score his first goal for the club during Saturday's 1-1 DStv Premiership draw against Marumo Gallants. "...It was a bittersweet moment. It could have been nicer, but I think everything works out for a reason. I think after the mistake [for Gallants' goal] there was something in me that had to go rectify things, because obviously you want to get points and results," he told the club's official"It was from a set piece. Chopper crossed the ball; KG flicked it on and I headed the ball.
Kwinika is expected to start again this weekend when the Amakhosi play host to SuperSport United where he will be hoping to help his side to arrest a run of form that has seen them languish in 14th position in the league standings, just two points above bottom-of-the-log Sekhukhune United.
