KSAT reporter John Paul Barajas, who was arrested and charged with DWI on Sunday, has hired two well-known defense attorneys who specialize in drunken driving cases to represent him. Barajas, who turned 29 on Saturday, was pulled over around 2 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 10 westbound on the Northwest Side after an officer saw him driving 82 mph in a 65-mph zone, changing speeds suddenly and drifting in and out of lanes, according to a police affidavit.
’s John Paul Barajas could not recite alphabet when stopped for DWI Barajas, who has worked at KSAT since June 2021, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail. A judge set his bail at $1,000, and Barajas was released on bond. Barajas has hired San Antonio lawyers David Christian and Thom Nisbet to defend him. Christian, reached Friday, said the defense team had no comment on Barajas’ case at this time.
San Antonio Councilman Clayton Perry had 14 drinks in 4 hours before hit-and-run Earlier this year, Christian represented then-District 10 City Councilman Clayton Perry after Perry was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and fleeing the scene of a car crash. Perry, then 67, downed 14 drinks over four hours at the Evil Olive bar on the Northeast Side on Nov. 6, according to a police affidavit.
