Melville Koppies was busy on October 27 with a large group of mountain club hikers, the once-a-month 8km hikers and others who just wanted to explore alone.
“We’re always keen to accommodate hikers’ wishes, so at the halfway mark, the 8km hiking group split,” explained Jenny Grice, a Koppies volunteer. “One group soldiered on to complete their 8km task. Those intrigued by the Koppies’ historical, geological and natural attractions were guided on a shorter educational route.”Choose from self-guided options: a 5km trail, a 3km heritage trail and the scavenger hunt for those with exploring minds. If you want to learn more about the Koppies, book a guided tour on 079 532 0083 at R100 for adults and R50 for under 18s.• Second Sunday of the month: poetry and open mic session starting at 08.
“There is also safe parking opposite the entrance to the Melville Koppies at Marks Park Sports Club on Judith Road, Emmarentia. For enquiries, email [email protected], call 079 532 0083 or go to www.mk.org.za
