Siya Kolisi, captain of the Sharks, is considering a move back to Cape Town to join the Stormers. While there are rumors, Kolisi is currently committed to the Sharks. He is reportedly seeking a transfer to be closer to his children, but a formal contract with the Stormers is yet to be determined.
Sharks star Siya Kolisi is rumoured for a Stormers return to be closer to his family. Despite these rumours, Kolisi currently remains very much committed to the Sharks , and word on the ground indicates that there is still a long way to go before any exit actually transpires. The 33-year-old flanker is reportedly seeking a transfer to be closer to his children in Cape Town, but it remains to be seen whether the Stormers can formally conclude a contract.
Stormers coach John Dobson recently told the media, “It’s out there that Siya would be interested in a move back and it’s something we’d entertain, but he’s under contract with the Sharks. The first conversation is – if Siya would like to join us – that would be something between him and the Sharks; he’s got a contract there that we respect. He is a quality guy, a great leader. He’s a great player with a long history at the Stormers.” Kolisi recently led the Sharks team to play the Stormers in a United Rugby Championship match in Cape Town, and Sharks boss John Plumtree also commented on the matter. “It was a bit of a surprise to me, but it came about at the time when we were preparing for this game (against the Stormers),” Plumtree said towards the end of last year. “I separate that type of matter to preparation, and what matters to me more is the team and not one person’s issues, even if it is the captain. I just went into ‘are you on board?’ and he said yes, he is, and then it was about getting ready for this game”,
