Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant will be posthumously honored with his own statue outside of the Los Angeles Lakers' home Crypto.com arena on Feb. 8, 2024, the team announced Thursday.
LOS ANGELES -- A bronze statue of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant will be unveiled outside of the team’s home Crypto.com arena in Feb. 2024, the Lakers announced Thursday.on Jan. 26, 2020, with his daughter, Gianna, and seven others, will be posthumously honored with his statue on Feb. 8, 2024. The date signifies the number two, which Gianna wore as a basketball player, and the numbers eight and 24, both of which which Bryant wore throughout his 20-year NBA career with the Lakers.
“Hi, everyone. As you know, Kobe played his entire 20-year NBA career as a Los Angeles Laker,” Vanessa says in the video. “Since arriving in the city, and joining the Lakers organization, he felt at home here, playing in the City of Angels. On behalf of the Lakers, my daughters, and me, I am so honored that right in the center of Los Angeles, in front of the place known as, “The House That Kobe Built,” we are going to unveil a statue, so that his legacy can be celebrated forever.
