The Knicks are engaged in a war of words with their highest-profile fan: Spike Lee.
The Academy Award winning director was filmed having a heated argument with Madison Square Garden security before Monday night's 125-123 victory over the Houston Rockets. Rumors surfaced on social media that Lee was removed from the arena, but he watched the game from his usual courtside seat.
The team later said it was untrue that Lee was asked to leave and that it was simply a misunderstanding about which entrance to use.Lee called it"Garden spin" and said he was being"harassed by James Dolan and I don't know why." Lee, who has had season tickets for nearly three decades, said that he has always used the employee entrance on 33rd Street, but was told he couldn't Monday night. He was asked to leave the arena and walk to the VIP entrance, which celebrities always use, on 31st Street.
The incident has now overshadowed the Knicks' surprising victory on Monday, which happened to be the first day for
