Jurgen Klopp storms out of interview after being called out for a 'dumb question' following Liverpool's FA Cup loss.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp found himself in hot water after a tense post-match interview following his team’s FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Manchester United. The normally composed manager became visibly frustrated and ended the interview abruptly after a question about his team’s intensity.The German coach was left disgruntled after Liverpool squandered multiple leads at Old Trafford, ultimately losing the match in extra time.
“That’s a bit of a dumb question,” he retorted. “If you see us often, you can ask us the other times why we have so much energy. I don’t know how many games we’ve had recently and how many Manchester United have had. That’s sport.”Klopp snapped, “Oh you don’t think that. Come on! You are obviously not in a great shape and I have no nerves for you.” He then swiftly ended the interview.Earlier, when pressed about the exhaustion of his players, Klopp acknowledged their heavy workload.
“We didn’t finish the game off. When you leave the door open, away from home at Old Trafford, it’s clear they would get chances,” he conceded. He went on to describe the feeling of watching a losing game as one of the worst feelings in sport.Klopp shrugged off suggestions that his team might suffer any lingering mental fatigue following the loss.
