KOTA KINABALU: Local enforcement officers should allow for some “leniency” for businesses just beginning to open after the implementation of the conditional movement control order earlier this week in the state.
Chan said he had noticed that many shops in the Kota Kinabalu central business district were still closed while those that were open complied with necessary social distancing and crowd control measures. "I have visited the Kota Kinabalu Central Market to distribute masks and I noticed that even vegetable sellers and hawkers are complying with the SOPs to the best that they can even with the reduction in business," Chan said in a statement Wednesday .
Chan added that enforcement officers should not be too quick to penalise businesses in the event of an unintentional breach of the SOPs.
