Eliud Kipchoge no longer races against humans. He races against the clock itself. Kipchoge breaks his own world record, finishing the Berlin Marathon in 2:01:09.

He shaved 30 seconds off his previous personal best of 2:01:39 recorded in Berlin in 2018.after the marathon. “I can say that I am beyond happy today that the official world record is once again faster. Thank you to all the runners in the world that inspire me every day to push myself.”
Defending champion Guye Adola and Ethiopia’s Andamlak Belihu kept pace with the 37-year-old Kipchoge until the 10-kilometer point, which they crossed in 28:23.
