The King's School West Rand has partnered with Forge Academy & Labs to launch a state-of-the-art Fourth Industrial Revolution ( 4IR ) lab, providing learners with immersive experiences in cutting-edge technology. The lab, equipped with 3D printing capabilities, robotics kits, coding stations, and VR kits, aims to prepare students for the evolving digital landscape.

Principal Philip Theron expressed his enthusiasm for the lab, stating that it will empower students to adapt to the changing demands of the digital economy. This initiative goes beyond equipping students; it also focuses on empowering teachers from previously disadvantaged schools. Through The King's School teacher programme, 30 interns are placed annually at schools in various locations across South Africa. These teacher interns will now have the opportunity to participate in a future skills programme, gaining the knowledge and tools to impart 4IR skills to learners in their respective schools.Forge Academy & Labs emphasizes that these initiatives rely on support from individuals and businesses. Craig Clutty, the academy's CEO, highlighted the significance of this partnership in preparing students for the digital economy. Meanwhile, the South African government has also been actively promoting digital literacy through the establishment of cyber labs. Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, recently inaugurated a 4IR cyber lab at Oakland High School, emphasizing the need for both infrastructure and digital literacy training.
