Two of Britain's biggest pop sensations have turned down the opportunity to perform on May 7

With King Charles III's coronation still months away, it is reported that two major pop stars have turned down the opportunity to perform at the royal event.

A source told the Mail on Sunday: "The King has suggested a number of people he would like to perform and Adele and Ed were on that list. He was very keen that they were part of the concert. Ed Sheeran's concert dates show that he is scheduled to perform on May 6 in Texas, and while he could make the nine-hour trip back to the UK in time, it could prove difficult. The red-head crooner performed his hit single at the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee last June.

It was previously reported that the iconic girl band could reunite for a one off performance, as a source said that organisers are working to make it happen. If confirmed, it will be the first time in over 10 years since members Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Mel Chisholm, Gerry Halliwell and Emma Bunton take stage as a full group - last joining forces to sing at the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony in London.
