After deliberating for three days, jurors found Potter guilty of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree manslaughter. Over the course of the week and a half trial, prosecutors did not dispute that the shooting was an accident, but Potter’s training and experience should have prevented the mix-up and subsequent shooting, contending she was negligent and acted recklessly.Potter made a mistake and Wright “caused the whole incident” by attempting to flee the traffic stop, causing his own death.last week, saying the traffic stop “just went chaotic” once officers decided to take Wright into custody on a warrant for an outstanding misdemeanor.
