A late salvo of 1-5 from Killeavy saw them gain a quarter-final berth as Ballymacnab and Dromintee head for the play-offs
Killeavy hit 1-5 without replay in the closing 10 minutes as they powered past Ballymacnab and sealed top place in Group A of the Armagh SFC.Ballymacnab looked on course to record a third successive win and clinch an automatic quarter-final place as they led 1-13 to 0-13 after 50 minutes, but Killeavy staged an impressive late rally to run out five-point winners. The hosts fell behind early on as Ballymacnab hit three points early on via Oisin McGivern, Jack Grugan and Pauric Gribben.
Watters and Cathal Boylan exchanged points before Killeavy took the lead for the first time with a well-worked score from Armagh star Ciaron O’Hanlon. A free from Watters in stoppage-time left four behind the sides at the break and the second half largely followed the same pattern as the first. A 45 offered Kerr the chance to respond for the ’Nab, but he showed all his experience to engineer a score by taking full advantage of some slack marking from Killeavy. Kerr pinged the ball short to an unmarked McGivern, who slotted over the bar.
A stunning cross-field pass from Jack Grugan led to a point from Kieran Hughes and Ballymacnab moved 1-13 to 0-13 ahead with a score from Pearse Hughes with 50 minutes played. O’Hanlon and Rice pushed Killeavy’s lead to four late on before Magill converted his second free to secure top spot for Tommy Coleman’s side.
