Itumeleng Khune, the guardian of the goalposts, refuses to surrender to the inexorable march of time. With unwavering conviction, he declares that his journey with Kaizer Chiefs is far from over, and his gloves will not find solace on the shelf yet.
As the seasons unfold, Khune, now 35, accepted a supporting role in the shadow of Brandon Petersen, gracing the field in only a dozen encounters this year.
The captain's armband still adorns his arm, but the sands of time have gently begun to trickle through the hourglass of his contract. With its imminent expiry at the end of June, Khune acknowledges that his fate lies in the hands of the Chiefs management. "What truly matters," Khune articulated,"is the daily contribution I make, both on and off the field. The club will bestow their gratitude based on these efforts."
However, Khune's narrative takes an intriguing twist as he ponders the possibilities beyond the pitch.
