In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, renowned youth development coach Farouk Khan has called for in-form Orlando Pirates midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi to be included as part of the Bafana Bafana setup.
He then went on to say that the 25-year-old, who scooped back-to-back Man of the Match awards for Pirates, deserves to be called up to the national team.“Soon people will be talking about him in Bafana, I suppose, I said the other day, I can't understand why he's not yet in Bafana,” Khan told the Siya crew.

With Themba Zwane having suffered an injury in their MTN8 semi-final against Kaizer Chiefs, there was hope that Maswangangyi would be called up to replace ‘Mshishi’ but the the Siya crew understands that red-hot Chiefs star Pule Mmodi, who has formed part of Broos’ setup before could crack the nod.
Maswanganyi since making the switch to Pirates at the end of the 2022/23 season has featured in six matches so far and has chipped in with five goal contributions, scoring two goals and laying on three assists in that time.
