It was first spotted on Friday and is burning in mostly inaccessible terrain
for air tankers and heavy equipment, but crews were able to access an area on its western flank Sunday and are creating control lines to limit its spread in that direction, said B.C. Wildfire Service information officer Bryan Zandberg in an update on Sunday.
The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen has issued a number of evacuation alerts and an order to evacuate the mountain village, as well as one property on the Lower Similkameen Indian Band lands.So far, 37 firefighters, eight helicopters and four pieces of heavy equipment have been brought in to fight the fire and protect structures around it.Photo by B.C.
