President Ruto who is on a two-day State Visit in Rwanda, affirmed that he will not get into any"unconstitutional" political agreement with opposition.
The President ruled out the possibility of a handshake with his political rival and once again defended his election, saying the election was carried out transparently and results published for all to see. Odinga has meanwhile been calling for protests to compel President Ruto's administration to honour various issues it has, among them the high cost of living, alleged discrimination in State appointments, as well a purported lack of transparency in the country's electoral body.

While lauding Kenyans for their resilience in the face of challenges, Gachagua expressed confidence in the country's economic recovery. Despite the cancellation of the protests, Gachagua warned that some criminal elements may still lurk. He stated that security agencies in the country are on high alert to counter any cases of insecurity that may arise. Odinga has suspended weekly countrywide demonstrations, this is after he accepted President William Ruto's proposal for bi-partisan parliamentary process on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners' recruitment. Odinga has maintained that the anti-government protests have never condoned violence and destruction of people's property. Three people have died since anti-government protests erupted on March 20 and businesses have been looted, property vandalized, and journalists attacked in unrest that has alarmed Kenya's neighbours and allies. Odinga has called for protests every Monday and Thursday, accusing Ruto of stealing last year's election and of failing to control the surging cost of living. Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu, has lauded Ruto and Odinga for giving dialogue a chance to resolve challenges facing the country.
