Kenya's President William Ruto and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni have offered to mediate a dispute between Ethiopia and Somalia, which is posing a threat to regional stability. The conflict stems from Ethiopia's plan to build a port in Somaliland, a move that has strained relations with Somalia and driven Somalia closer to Egypt and Eritrea.
Kenya ’s President William Ruto said on Saturday he and Uganda n President Yoweri Museveni would help mediate a dispute between Ethiopia and Somalia, which was threatening the stability of the region.
Somaliland has struggled to gain international recognition despite governing itself and enjoying comparative peace and stability since declaring independence in 1991.
