Sunland Derby winner would have been Kentucky Derby longshot
Wild on Ice reportedly sustained a left hind leg injury and was taken to a Lexington. Ky. equine surgical facility before eventually being euthanized, according to the El Paso Times report.
That report noted Wild on Ice was looking to become the first Texas-bred since 1950 to win the Kentucky Derby. The Daily Racing Form reported noted that Wild on Ice will be replaced in the 20-horse Derby field by Skinner, the horse with the next highest qualifying point total.Thanks for visiting PennLive.
