The Scottish radio presenter, who has an autistic son Murray, was recognised for his contribution to radio.

Veteran broadcaster Ken Bruce has said it is “vitally important” that we listen to the autistic community after he was made an MBE.

“So if this helps in some way to bring awareness a little bit higher in people’s minds, then I’m all for it.” He added: “They get put in a little box and just left – and not given enough chance to really develop their skills, their talents and to contribute to society. Ken Bruce was presented with the award by the Princess Royal which he said was a ‘lovely’ experience

Bruce said: “I’m delighted to know that the audience are there and listening to me. All I have to do is keep doing it now and hope they stay.”
