Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana has shared details on his recovery process after making a strong return to action for the league leaders. Read more here ▶️

Bafana Bafana international Kekana was one of Sundowns' star performers during Saturday's 7-0 CAF Champions League win over La Passe in a match during which he opened the scoring in the first minute of the encounter. The weekend's outing was only his fourth appearance across all competitions this term after he was previously sidelined by an injury he sustained during Masandawana's final pre-season friendly at the start of the campaign.

"I have come a long way with my injury. The process and journey to recovery has been a strenuous one. I had to put in extra work and physiotherapy sessions to get back to full fitness." Kekana told the club's media team. "I was doing a lot of extra work on the sides so I could speed up the recovery process. I’m feeling confident again. I’m grateful to the medical team, my family and everyone in the team for ensuring that I get back on the pitch.

"I just wanted to see myself playing again, that’s my happy place," he added."The feeling of just being on the pitch is amazing. It’s unfortunate that I got injured on the last game of pre-season but that’s behind me." The 29-year-old joined Sundowns from SuperSport United at the start of last season and was nominated for the PSL Defender of the Year award alongside Cape Town City's Thamsanqa Mkhize and former teammate Lyle Lakay, the latter of whom won the accolade.
