Labour council leaders are growing concerned over the party leadership’s comments over GazaThe Labour leadership held a meeting with dozens of council leaders from across the country on Monday evening amid an increasing backlash to Sir Keir’s comments inmet with council leaders with large Muslim communities, who warned that support for the party was “in freefall” as a result of Labour’s stance on the conflict.
Among them was Cllr Amna Abdullatif, the first Muslim woman to be elected to Manchester City Council, who released a resignation statement, saying she was “appalled by the lack of humanity being shown to Palestinians by the party I have been a member of for the last 10 years”.
