ICYMI: KATY JEAN: A story of a happy life, curly hair and finding family | SaltWire
Aaron Billard's curiosity about his biological family was aided by Ancestry DNA kit. The Moncton minister found a family of excited and happy Cape Bretoner’s from New Waterford. ContributedNova Scotians are no different, with their own stories, origins and complexities.Aaron Billard was born in Nova Scotia and grew up in Sydney Mines. He now lives in Moncton with his wife, children and dog, Halo.
Billard saw himself happy and safe in his family. He saw love, and what love was, from his parents and sibling. But he didn’t see himself in their faces. His origins, biology, or explanation for his red curly hair lie somewhere else. He was able to access non-identifying information. A social worker did make gentle contact with his mother to let her know he was inquiring about his records.Disappointing. Not entirely unexpected. Billard understood people have their reasons. The curiosity did continue even with the dead end.
