The new Katy Court development is moving forward after more than a year of delays. At the Dec. 12 city council meeting, Katy city council unanimously voted to approve Phase II of the 300-acre development.

Phase II will add about 190 acres to the project, which includes zoning for residential, commercial and recreational development, city records show. Once completed, the Katy Court will be home to 607 residential lots, 412 of which will be located in Phase II.The Katy Court will also feature a 2.7-acre recreational center, multiple detention ponds, and about 77 acres of open space.

The commercial businesses have not been established yet, documents from the city show, but the permit allows only for office complexes, restaurants, retail or medical centers, recreation centers, grocery stores, pharmacies or banks.10 Katy small businesses to meet all your holiday shopping needs, from jewelry to dog toys to antique books

The permit prohibits tattoo, piercing or smoke shops, storage facilities, sexually-oriented businesses, manufacturing businesses, auto sales or laboratories. City council approved Phase I of the project in June of 2021. That phase is already under construction.
