Flawless fashion icon, Kate Middleton has never failed to impress when it comes to her dress sense - with one key rule from the late Queen assuring she always stands out

Since first stepping into the public eye as the bright eyed girlfriend of Prince William back in 2001, Kate Middleton has continually delighted fans with her impeccable dress sense and timeless style. From polished hemlines to demure shoes, stunning gowns to tailored suits, Kate has continually set a high bar in the fashion world.

Opting for colour blocked outfits in recent months, Kate has been taking her style cues from the late Queen Elizabeth II, who famously often wore colour blocked outfits during her state engagements. Not only with the eye-catching ensembles flattering with the monarch’s complexion, they also held another purpose too - to easily be seen by members of the public!

“She needs to stand out for people to be able to say, ‘I saw the queen,’” explained Sophie. “Don’t forget that when she turns up somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four, 10, 15 deep, and someone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of the queen’s hat as she went past.” Following in The Queen’s footsteps, Kate has also begun to wear more colour blocked outfits, such as this dreamy green ensemble from the Irish Guards St Patrick's Day parade back in March.
