Kaoru Mitoma has signed a new four-year contract with Brighton & Hove Albion to keep him at the club until 2027. The Athletic reported earlier this month that the 26-year-old was in the process of finalising the new deal with the Premier League club. It is believed Mitoma’s new deal will see him become one of Brighton’s top earners.

Advertisement Brighton technical director David Weir said: “Ensuring that a player of Kaoru’s quality will remain with us for the long term is fantastic news.
“His success also reflects the work of the departments that played a role in his recruitment, helping him gain important experience on loan and ultimately becoming a big part of Roberto’s first-team group.” Mitoma joined Brighton from the Japanese club Kawasaki Frontale in August 2021 but spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Union Saint-Gilloise. The Japan international has become a vital component of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad following his comeback from the Belgian side.
