Cape Town City boss John Comitis says Khanyisa Mayo is staying at the club for now and will leave once they bring in another quality player.
The 25-year-old scored 10 goals last season in the DStv Premiership. Having spent three years with Cape Town City, many feel the striker should move to a bigger team or even try his luck abroad. CT City boss John Comitis revealed that Mayo was a wanted man not just in the“There’s a lot of interest in Mayo and it happens every second and third day somebody is enquiring about him,” Comitis told Thabiso Mosia on“The numbers got to be right firstly and probably right for his career also.
“I think with those better players around him and more creative players I think we will see a different Khanyisa that will score goals. There’s nothing concrete at this stage,” he added.“We have him in our plans and he is staying at the moment that’s our top striker. You have to consider the player’s career.
A few months ago, Comitis put a price tag for Mayo. He said his dream was to see the young striker move to Europe. “The player is focused on what he wants to achieve, and he wants to end up in Europe. He knows he can get 15 goals plus, if he is really focused. It seems now he has found his rhythm,” John Comitis told“We have to show players we can get them to the biggest clubs in Europe. We know what the value of the player is; this player for us in Europe would be worth $2 million . He is worth a lot and that is normal for a player like him,” John Comitis added.
