Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach, Baloyi, reveals he recommended Oscar Masuluke to the club during his time with Steve Komphela. Baloyi believes Masuluke, a former FIFA Puskas Award nominee for his spectacular goal, would be a successful goalkeeper for Chiefs due to his character and technical abilities.
A Kaizer Chiefs legend says he recommended a player to the club that could’ve still been there and a key player right now.Khune perhaps spoilt Chiefs by his longevity. He spent 20 years in the first team with about 17 of them as first choice. But since his decline and injuries, Amakhosi have struggled to have a commanding goalkeeper in about five years. Khune was released from Chiefs at the end of the previous season, with no official news of a retirement.
“But to be a goalkeeper, you need to be a little bit crazy. You’ll never have someone who has both technical and has thick skin, character. So, Oscar has that, this is someone you can take a chance on. You won’t improve him much on his technical because he’s old, but he has something you can work with. You’d rather have someone like that, especially at a big club, than a goalkeeper who is talented but has no character,” the Chiefs legend continued.
It seems there’s plenty to love about having South Africa’s best teams feature in the URC. What are your thoughts on their presence?
