PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs have been charged for not honouring two DSTV Premiership fixtures in December and revealed a date for their hearing.
In early December, Amakhosi requested the PSL to have their matches postponed due to a massive Covid-19 outbreak at the Village, which saw over 30 members of the team testing positive.Chiefs went on to confirm that they would not be able to honour matches against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows, but the Premier Soccer League confirmed at a later period that Amakhosi’s request had been denied.
Majavu, who was appointed by the PSL until the end of the season, confirmed that the Soweto giants have been charged and will know what their punishment is on January 21. There is a strong possibility that the three points could be awarded to City and Arrows “I can confirm that Kaizer Chiefs football club has been charged in relation with their non-fulfilment of two fixtures, as a result of the allegations that most of their players had tested positive.
