Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune would lead from the back in a formidable team of some of the talented players South Africa has ever produced, as selected by another retired footballer. After almost a decade of professional football, having started playing in the topflight at the late age of almost 26 years, Mzuvukile Tom retired from the game in 2015, following a stint with Mpumalanga Black Aces.
However, it was at Golden Arrows that the Graaff-Reinet-born player made his name while playing with some of the top players in the league at the time at the KwaZulu-Natal outfit, including Siyabonga Sangweni and Kagisho Dikgacoi who played for Bafana Bafana and went on to play in England. “Itumeleng Khune would definitely be my number one because at his best that guy is a top goalkeeper and there is no doubt about that,” says Tom as in selecting his PSL XI of all time.
