Kaizer Chiefs have been left facing huge question marks following the release of a third of their players following the extension of their trophy drought to a record seven years.
The over 30s crew of Bernard Parker, Samir Nurkovic, Leonardo Castro, Lebogang Manyama, Daniel Cardoso, Kearyn Baccus and Daniel Akpeyi have seen their contracts not renewed.Underperformers Lazarous Kambole, Dumisani Zuma and Kearyn Baccus have been released as well just like Teddy Akumu who is now on transfer.
Mathoho, Hlanti, Alexander, Nange and Billiat still have running contracts just like Khune whose future is however said to be under discussion. Chiefs have not confirmed whether they have activated the option of another season on Mphahlele’s deal but it all makes sense that he stays on considering the value he brings with 15 years of experience playing in the PSL.
