With seven goals in all competitions last season, the quicksilver attacker aroused the interest of North African giants as well as Kaizer Chiefs.Interestingly, Amakhosi has been quite explicit about filling the left wing role with a star player. Their attempts to recruit Cape Town Spurs winger Asanele Velebayi were unsuccessful.In an interview with Robert Marawa on 947, Motaung Jr indicated that the former Pretoria Callies star was a player they were looking into.
While Motaung Jr declined to reveal the mechanics of the discussions, he did recognise Appollis’ quality and the club’s desire to sign him.
