Kaizer Chiefs attacker Lebogang Manyama has opened up on the struggles he’s had with injury this season, as he slowly works his way back into the team.
The player has missed a big part of the campaign due to injury, but is available for selection, giving head coach Stuart Baxter more options in attack. Manyama assured Amakhosi supporters he will be back to his best soon. “I missed a huge chunk of the season. I was struggling with my knee, but it’s good to be back and training with the boys. I am trying to get better and better every day. It is difficult to catch up with the other guys, because games keep on coming and coming and coming. I am getting there slowly, but surely. My knee is stronger now and I will be back to my best soon,” the former Cape Town City captain said ahead of the clash against Baroka FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Amakhosi have had some tough battles in the past with Baroka and it's proven in the fact that they have never completed a double over the Limpopo outfit. Having beaten Baroka in the first half of the campaign, Amakhosi have an opportunity to beat them twice in one season for the first time in their history.
“History is always there, good or bad. I don’t focus on it. We can’t really care about what happened before, all we should care about is what we do on Saturday and going forward. We need to make sure that we apply ourselves in the right way and play the way we have been training and get maximum points,”
