During the DStv Ekasi Champ of Champs final last Sunday, Itumeleng Khune asked the media to speak to Kaizer Chiefs about his future.
Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr saysThe 37-year-old keeper is a free agent after his contract with Amakhosi expired last month. He was not part of Chiefs’ travelling squad to Turkiye, which confirmed his club status. Having played for the Kaizer Chiefs’ first team for 18 years, Khune might be forced to retire in the next coming weeks.
“I think as time goes on, we will be able to divulge more information. From the start of the season with Itu , we sat down and spoke, I think we released a statement as far as his playing contract, we had assessed everything,” Motaung Jr told the media.“We have sat down with Itu and we see him playing a very, very valuable role within this institution. I mean, he has contributed tremendously to this institution. He is a living legend.
