The first book of choice? That would be, the runaway literary hit of 2018 written by the 29-year-old Irish novelist Sally Rooney.
The prize-winning novel charts the nuances of a friendship, and eventual romance, between two teenagers as they move from their small Irish town to study at university in Dublin—perfect reading for Gerber’s largely Gen Z fanbase. “Every week I’m gonna post a book to my stories and the following week I’ll jump on [Instagram Live]—sometimes with a friend, writer, [or] guest—so we can all talk about the book,” she wrote in the accompanying caption.
