The group have protested several times in Merseyside
Just Stop Oil supporters appeared in Liverpool recently as they made changes to the famous Beatles statue on the Pier Head. Last Thursday , they d ressed the Beatles figures in high viz vests and added speech bubbles reading “Imagine there’s no oil” and “Hey Jude, let’s Just Stop Oil”. A statement from the group said they supported Paul McCartney's vegetarian diet but said leadership from the government is needed to tackle climate change .
In July, five Just Stop Oil supporters were jailed due to their actions on the M25. The sentences are the longest since the introduction by the last government of the new law of conspiracy to cause a public nuisance, in a bid to clamp down on disruptive protests. Other supporters of the group have been jailed, but Just Stop Oil argues the ‘real villains’ are politicians and businesses who have failed to tackle the climate crisis.
