KZN Police said there was a shootout between suspected cash in transit robbers and officers with one suspect hus far atally wounded
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said Provincial Police Commissoner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi is on his way to the crime scene on Phoenix Highway, not far from the Phoenix police station.between suspected cash in transit robbers and police. One suspect has thus far been fatally wounded and three rifles and a large amount of money have been recovered. Police are still hunting more suspects in the vicinity.
“A team comprising of police officers from various units, including the Hawks, gathered intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the suspects and when police announced their arrival at the identified house, they were greeted with a hail of bullets from the suspects. In another incident, police officers who are members of the National Intervention Unit cornered two suspects who were sought for intimidation, extortion and other violent crimes.
