It took the jury nine hours of deliberation to convict Smollett on five of six felony charges. In November 2020, Smollett filed a countersuit.
“You took away a lot of resources from other places, from other real victims of real crimes,” Linn said to Smollett, “and used up the police resources for your own benefit. And that’s a big problem here.”
