Authorities say Devonte Fellows, 26, of Cleveland, distributed a fentanyl mixture that led to an overdose death in Cuyahoga Falls.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland man could be sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted by a federal jury of distributing fentanyl that led to the overdose death of a person in Cuyahoga Falls in 2019.
Devonte Fellows, 26, was found guilty Friday after a four-day trial in front of Judge Donald Nugent, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. Fellows is scheduled to be sentenced on June 30. According to the attorney’s office, Cuyahoga Falls police detectives were called to investigate the overdose death of a person on April 26, 2019. Detectives found a substance containing fentanyl at the victim’s residence and an autopsy by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death was acute fentanyl toxicity.
Investigators say Fellows gave a fentanyl mixture to the victim, who overdosed and died. Fellows admitted to investigators that he sold drugs, including fentanyl, to the deceased, prosecutors say.More crime-related content on cleveland.com
