After almost seven years hidden from the outside world, Julian Assange, the founder of internet activist organisation Wikileaks, was bundled down the steps of the Ecuadorian embassy in Knightsbridge and into a waiting police van to await a court appearance.
Mr Assange, 47, became famous for his position as editor-in-chief of Wikileaks, the online organisation known for its leaks of confidential data surrounding the Iraq War and a trove of emails from the US Democratic National Committee ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
