The Presiding Judge in the Jacob Zuma corruption trial has granted Zuma's request to appeal to the Supreme Court of Appeal President Mandisa Maya to reconsider her decision.
PIETERMARITZBURG - One legal expert says the law didn't give Judge Piet Koen much of a choice. This postpones the start of the trial to 17 May.They want Maya to reconsider the decision to deny Zuma leave to appeal the outcome of his special plea.
Legal expert Tyrone Maseko explained,"I can understand the decision for the reason that the application to the Supreme Court of Appeal is a motion on its own and forms part of an appeal to which Jacob Zuma is entitled to." "That process, having taken place, it then meant that his full rights in terms of appeal are available to him."
