In a significant legal development, a judge ruled today against Paul Morales , who stands accused of animal cruelty in relation to an illegal cockfighting ring allegedly hosted on his property.
Despite Morales' plea, the judge determined that none of the confiscated birds would be returned to him. Instead, the state has requested their donation or transfer to a third party capable of caring for the animals. "We don't eat dogs and cats, but society generally does eat chickens. So that right there puts things on a whole different level," Hindi remarked.
