Not only will the band be inducted. But Priest is apparently planning an epic performance for the inductions set for Nov. 5 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
“They give you a limited amount of time ‘cause there’s obviously lots of artists that are gonna be performing,” Travis said. “So, they gave us a set amount of time to perform. And we decided we’re gonna try and work in a medley and do some of the Priest classics and put ‘em all into a medley, which we’ve never done before. So, it should be interesting.”
Priest will be inducted into the Rock Hall’s Music Excellence category. The same goes for the songwriting/production team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. This year’s main Performer Category inductees are Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Carly Simon. Harry Belafonte and folk/blues pioneer Elizabeth “Libba” Cotten will be inducted as Early Influencers. Entertainment lawyer Allen Grubman, record executive Jimmy Iovine and hip-hop record producer Sylvia Robinson will each receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
