The Portuguese winger was pelted with reams of toilet paper as he warmed up in Saudi Arabia
The Portuguese winger has had a torrid time of it in Saudi Arabia since making the money-spinning £25million move from the Scottish champions this summer. But just over a month and a half since he left the dizzying heights of a Treble with Celtic, the youngster has found himself precariously set to leave Ittihad and could even become a free agent. Not only has Jota been resigned to the bench often for Nuno Espirito Santo, fans have reacted angrily to his presence in the team.
Reports suggest the club are looking to loan or offload the winger in the coming days, but as he made his warm up against Al-Riyadh, the silky trickster was pelted by roll after roll of toilet paper. A clip shared to social media seemed to show the player seeing the funny side of the situation, with the fans confusingly chanting "Jota! Jota!" as he hurries by, dodging the streams of bog roll in the process.
Jota can be seen trying to catch a few of the missiles, and even blows a kiss to the fans and struts off with a smirk. It's a far cry from the love and affection he received from the Celtic Park crowd but the winger seems to be in good spirits.
