Mateo Joseph scored for Leeds United U21s against Hertha BSC in his first outing for the Whites this season
Mateo Joseph found the back of the net on his first competitive outing in a Leeds United shirt this season on Tuesday night. The striker has been a valued member of Daniel Farke’s first team squad this time around, stepping up to the senior ranks on a permanent basis after showcasing his considerable talent on a weekly basis in the Under-21s last season.
“Daniel has asked to give him 90 minutes and I thought tonight he got through it really well and looked really good. Credit to Mateo, credit to his patience but it was nice to see him. Joseph was part of a Whites line up that showed conviction and composure to take the game away from Hertha, who had a pocket of extremely vocal followers present in support. Carole scored the first goal of the game for Leeds, cutting in off the right edge to curl the ball beyond the keeper from the corner of the box.
“In the grand scheme of things it was a really strong performance and I thought we had to manage it at times. I thought we could manage without the ball and even with the ball late on better but I thought it was a really mature performance from the lads.
