Mike Wilner: José Berríos and the Blue Jays bullpen can’t hold lead in loss to Angels
— including three in the first inning — José Berríos got off to a terrific start, allowing just one unearned run on two hits over the first three innings Saturday.and giving up a double to Shohei Ohtani. Berríos didn’t implode. While both wound up scoring, he got out of the inning without further damage. But he couldn’t get anybody out in the bottom of the fifth.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was the only one who didn’t get in on the fun, and he was furious when he let Ryan Tepera get away with a pair of crushable pitches in the seventh. Vladdy still wound up with three hits, all singles.Old friends
